Titanium Dioxide Food Grade

Food grade titanium dioxide (TiO2) is used as a white pigment to make foods more appealing, restore their original color, or add brightness. It’s also known as E171. 

Uses 

Bakery products, Candy, Chocolate, Chewing gum, Coffee creamer, Milk, Sauces, Snacks, and Vitamin supplements.
Regulation
  • In the United States, the FDA regulates TiO2 as a color additive in foods. 
  • The European Union banned the use of TiO2 in foods in 2022 due to health concerns. 
  • In Australia and New Zealand, TiO2 is allowed to be added to a wide range of foods.
